In October/November 2010, I heard of two sightings of a giant black wolf or hellhound in downtown Fairbanks. Both sightings took place around dusk. The first person who saw it was living at Golden Towers. The second person who saw it was a downtown business owner who was driving across the Wendell St. Bridge. The first sighting was of this giant black wolf-like creature just wandering down Dunkel St. It moved quickly, but the witness said that it moved like it wasn't concerned about much of anything - a predatory walk. There was a little fog that morning from the Chena River and the giant creature headed for the river. The sighting took about 45-60 seconds at the most. The second sighting took place while a business owner was driving over a bridge, so it didn't last long. There was ice on the river and the driver saw the giant black creature cross the river in three bounds, moving from the Chena Bingo area over to the playground near Pro Music (Graehl Park). It went behind some brush and disappeared.
