This story was in ‘Nome Nugget’ Sept 1901 H.O. Blankenship originally discovered gold in Candle Creek near Goodhope Bay. He became rich from his gold claims, but says he was guided there by a ghost. He had to travel by boat to get to the Seward Peninsula. He claims that his deceased Father-In-Law helped him steer clear of ice, whales, and through narrow channels.
